COMPASS Testing Tips

To prepare for the Compass Placement test, you may look at some sample test questions and take practice tests in each of the three sections: writing, math and reading. The practice examples are similar to the kinds of test questions you are likely to see when you take the actual Compass test. Since this is a practice exercise, you will answer just a few questions and the answer key follows the sample questions.

If you would like to use a printed test and are unable to print one, please come by the TVCC Testing Center for a copy.

Practice Tests

When you are ready to take the actual Compass Placement test, you need to know that the test is computer delivered and untimed, allowing you to work at your own pace. After you complete the test, you will receive a score report. The score report will give your placement for math, reading and writing.
