Admission Criteria
Search:

Treasure Valley Community College is an open-door, equal access institution. If you are a high school graduate and you apply to the college, you are eligible for admission. If you are not a high school graduate, and you are 18 years of age or older, you may be admitted if:
  1. Your high school class has graduated; OR
  2. Your high school district has released you; OR
  3. You have successfully completed the General Educational Development (GED) test.
If you are under the age of 18, you may enroll with the permission of the high school district in which you reside and the Dean of Student Services. Students admitted under these circumstances are not eligible to receive Federal student aid.

Students that do not meet the admission criteria should schedule an appointment with the Dean of Student Services to discuss an exception for special circumstances. Generally, exceptions are considered for students who demonstrate excellent preparation and unqualified readiness for college work.

Although TVCC generally operates with the above receptive and flexible standards in admitting students, special admissions standards and prerequisites are imposed for some specific instructional programs and courses. Students are advised that certain course sequences and requisite preparation to succeed in some basic skill, academic, professional technical and other courses is the College's practice to ensure that the student has the optimum chance at success. In some cases it may be necessary for instructor/s or administrator/s to withdraw students from courses for which they are demonstrably not prepared. Questions about specific standards, requirements and procedures should be directed to the Director of Admissions.
