Laura Moore Cunningham Science Center

The Laura Moore Cunningham Science Center is a state-of-the art educational facility featuring technology enhanced classrooms throughout the building, and one of the best science facilities among colleges in the Pacific Northwest. Named in honor of Laura Moore Cunningham, whose foundation continues to support education in Idaho and Western  Oregon, the Laura Moore Cunningham Science Center further cements a tradition of community support and involvement at TVCC.

Laura Moore Cunningham

Laura Moore Cunningham was the daughter of C.W. and Catherine Minear Moore, Idaho pioneers in the mining and banking businesses. She was born and raised in Boise where her father chartered the second national bank west of the Mississippi River, The Idaho First National Bank. Mrs. Cunningham was dedicated to her community, serving as a director of the Children's Home Society for over thirty years, active in the Boise Red Cross, and strongly supporting then Boise Junior College. Founded in 1963 upon her death, the Foundation currently awards scholarships to 450 young men and women, many the first in their families to go to college, each year. Helping these young people helps our communities, our educational institutions, and our region become stronger. In addition the Foundation funds a number of projects in communities across Idaho and here at TVCC through a competitive grantmaking process. Her family, including Eastern Oregon and Idaho rancher, Harry Bettis, current President of the Foundation, continues her tradition by ensuring that the colleges, hospitals, libraries and other important institutions in our communities are able to continue their important service to all of us.

For over forty years, hundreds of deserving students at Treasure Valley Community College have benefited from the generosity of the Laura Moore Cunningham Foundation, Inc. in the form of scholarship support for Idaho students. Currently at least 25 students a year benefit directly from the Foundation's generosity.

The Directors of the Laura Moore Cunningham Foundation, Inc. showed an even greater commitment to TVCC by helping make this Science Center a reality. Through two generous gifts, the first in only the planning phase, the Foundation's leadership showed that they believed in the value of TVCC and its science programs. Their foresight helped make it possible for us to share our vision with many other caring and generous community members without whom we could not have built this new facility.

For their generous contributions and longtime commitment to education and Treasure Valley Community College we are honored to name this beautiful new facility as the Laura Moore Cunningham Science Center. Together with the leaders of that Foundation, we thank all of you who made it possible.
