Creating an Announcement

  1. In the Course Tools section of the Control Panel, click Announcements.
  2. Click the Add Announcement _____ button.
  3. Enter a subject in the Subject box.
  4. Enter the format announcement text in the Message box.
  5. Optional: Select options in the Options section.
  6. Optional: In the Course Link section, click the Browse ____ button next to the Location box and select a course location to link to.
  7. Optional: Check or clear the Email this announcement to all course users box.
  8. Click the Submit ____ button and click the OK button.

Creating a Calendar Event

  1. In the Course Tools section of the Control Panel, click Course Calendar.
  2. Click the Add Event _____ button.
  3. Enter a name for the event in the Event Name box.
  4. Enter a description of the event in the Event Description box.
  5. In the Event Time section, select the Date, Start Time, and the End Time.
  6. Click the Submit ____ button and click the OK button.
    Note: to view a specific time period in the calendar, click the Quick Jump _____ button, select criteriam and click the Submit ____ button.

Creating a Task

  1. In the Course Tools section of the Control Panel, click Tasks.
  2. Click the Add Task ___ button.
  3. Enter a name for the task in the Task Name box.
  4. Enter a description of the task in the Description box.
  5. Select a Due Date for the task.
  6. Optional: In the Task Options section, click the arrow on the Priority box and select a priority level.
  7. Click the Submit ____ button and click the OK button.

Sending E-Mail

  1. In the Course Tools section of the Control Panel, click Send Email.
  2. Select who you want to send an e-mail to.
  3. Enter a subject in the Subject box.
  4. Enter message text in the Message box.
  5. Optional: To verify delivery of the email, check the Return Receipt box.
  6. Optional: To add an attachment, click Attach a file and click the Browse ____ button. Locate and select the file that you want to attach and click the Open button.
  7. Click the Submit _____ button and click the OK button.

Creating a Glossary

  1. In the Course Tools section of the Control Panel, click Glossary Manager.
  2. Click the Add Term _____ button.
  3. Enter the term in the Term box.
  4. Enter the definition in the Definition box.
  5. Click the Submit _____ button
  6. Optional: To add another term, click the Add Another Term _____ button, enter term information, and click the Submit ____ button.
  7. When you are finished  adding terms, click the OK button.

Creating a Message

You can send a course-specific message to users enrolled in a course without leaving the Blackboard environment.

  1. In the Course Tools section of the Control Panel, Click Messages.
  2. Click the New Message ______ button.
  3. Click the To button.
  4. Select a recipient in the Select Recipients box and click the Add Recipient ____ button. (repeat for all users you want to add.)
  5. Optional: Click the Cc and Bcc buttons to add additional users.
  6. Enter a message subject in the Subject box.
  7. Enter message text in the Body box.
  8. Click the Submit ____ button.
    Note: To view messages that you have received, click the Inbox shortcut in the Messages section.
