CLEP Testing at TVCC
Search:

Treasure Valley Community College is a national testing center for College Level Examination Program exams. Many colleges and universities, including TVCC, accept satisfactory performance on the CLEP examinations as an alternative by which students may satisfy certain general education, specific course, or major requirements. Students generally prepare for CLEP examinations by independent studies, completing advanced high school courses, auditing college classes, on the job training, and/or other experiences.

Two types of examination will be offered through CLEP. These are the General Examinations and the Subject Examinations. The General Examinations are measures of college level achievement in five general areas and the material covered is comparable to that taught in general education courses at the college freshmen level.

The CLEP Subject Examinations are designed to test achievement in specific college subjects in a variety of areas. A currently enrolled Treasure Valley Community College student may earn college credit with a score above the 50th percentile in both the General and Subject Examinations.

The examinations are each 90 minutes. Please click HERE for cost and further CLEP testing information. Successful completion may earn students up to 12 credits in specific subject areas, and up to a maximum of 45 credits that can be applied to an Associates degree at Treasure Valley Community College. Students can use CLEP to challenge, in effect, a part of their graduation requirements.
