1. Do you have an LPN program? If so, how long is the program?
Yes. The minimum time to complete the LPN program is 1 year (4 quarters).
2. Do you have an RN program? If so, how long is the program?
Yes. The minimum amount of time to complete the RN program is 2 years (8 quarters).
3. How do I get into the nursing program?
You must apply and be accepted into the program. Selection is limited and is based on a point system.
4. What is the point system?
The point system is a tool used for selection of applicants. Based on the total number of points accumulated, the applicants are ranked and the top scorers are selected for enrollment.

There are 5 ways to get points:

  • Taking required nursing program support courses (1 point given for each credit hour of support courses)
  • Maintaining a high GPA (Grade Point Average) in nursing general education courses. The higher the GPA, the more points given.
  • Points are given based on the nursing entrance exam score (PAX-RN).
  • The student will receive 30 points if he/she is currently certified as a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) in Oregon or Idaho.
  • The student will receive 10 points if he/she resides in the community (see point sheet)

5. When do you accept students into the program?
             We accept students each spring for admission into the fall class.

6. How do I apply to the nursing program?
You can come by the nursing department and pick up a nursing application packet between January and March. Deadline is stated in the application packet.
 
7. Do I have to be admitted into the nursing program before I can take any classes?
No. We encourage students to take as many nursing general education courses (biological/social sciences and humanities) as possible prior to applying.
 
8. What are the prerequisites?
There are no stated prerequisites, although students are encouraged to take as many nursing general education courses as possible before applying to the program.

10. How do I begin?
          Attend a nursing information session:

2nd Monday of the month at 7pm in the TVCC Nursing Department

4th Friday of the month at 12(noon) in the TVCC Nursing Deparment

1st Tuesday of the month at 5pm at the TVCC Caldwell Center
