ASSOCIATE OF APPLIED SCIENCE DEGREE IN NURSING PROGRAM

(Practical Nursing (PN) optional exit)

Thank you for your interest in our nursing program. The following is information about the program and the application process.
  1. Applicants must have a high school diploma, high school equivalency, or GED.
  2. Before enrolling in general education courses at TVCC, placement tests in Reading, English and Math need to be taken at the Testing Center in the Four Rivers Cultural Center (881-5798). If you have completed college courses with a "C" grade or above in WR 121 and MATH 95 or above, you may omit the placement tests.
  3. The pre-requisites for BIOL 231 (Anatomy & Physiology) are BIOL 101 & CHEM 104.
  4. A pre-requisite for CHEM 104 is MATH 60.
  5. Math pre-requisite:  MATH 95 or higher must be completed and transcripted with a grade of “C” or above by the nursing application deadline in order to be considered for admission.
  6. After attending a nursing program information session, you can make an appointment to speak with an advisor.  Bring Placement Test results and your college transcript (if applicable), to the meeting. If placement scores indicate need, developmental studies or prerequisites must be completed before you may enroll in required courses.
  7. Application packets can be obtained from the nursing department office or on the TVCC website after the first week of winter term.  Deadline for applying to the nursing program will be the middle of April (see exact date in application), students will be notified of admission by May 15th.
  8. The National League for Nursing (NLN) pre-admission test (verbal skills, math, science) must be taken before admission into the program. A fee is charged. Preregistration for the test is required (refer to dates enclosed). Call the Nursing Department Secretary for details. Minimum scores of 40th percentile in all categories are required to be considered as a candidate.

Admission to Treasure Valley Community College does not guarantee admission to the nursing program.
